Bishop Sheen on Lent ......

“Lent is the penitential season, a time when men once put on hair shirts, sacrificing any hope of bodily ease for 40 days. G.K. Chesterton once said that St. Thomas Becket wore a hair shirt under his purple, so that people might have the benefit of his purple and he might have the benefit of penance.”

Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Nice. Thank you for sharing. I read these last two blogs and I just wanted to encourage you. I lived in the dark for reasons on every level, keep making those acts of faith and love. Soon enough you will see that it was in those moments that God was the closest and you gave all.
God love you!
And I love the look on the blog, you are talented indeed.
Ps: my girls and I read a Oscar Wilde short story last week. I enjoyed the little peek into his writing.

A far as the hair shirt, it reminds me that e never know what someone is suffering on the inside, yet we judge from what we see on the outside. So many people suffer silently. The silent sufferings are never alone though...they are the peek of suffering that Christ endured. St. Teresa of Avila may say...wrap yourself in th cocoon of Christ and soon you will emerge a beautiful white butterfly!
